Developer Shawn Cummings told this week that four new sections of Mackintosh on the Lake, with a total of 226 homes, are expected to be started during 2021.
Cummings said he has selected Dan Ryan and Windsor Homes to be the builders for the final neighborhoods.
Cummings, who began buying the remaining portions of the development in 2018, noted that these are the last sections of the 1,450-unit subdivision that originally began in 2005.
When it was first announced, the development was estimated to have more than 2,000 homes on 612 acres. Subsequently, some acreage has been sold off and used for non-residential purposes, lowering the current estimated total number of houses and townhouses to about 1,450.
While not as large as originally envisioned, it is still the largest in Burlington and one of the largest in Alamance County. About two-thirds of the homes are on the Alamance County side of the county line. Other homes are in Guilford County.
