Investigators with the North Carolina High Patrol are asking anyone who may have information about a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on February 12, 2022 along N.C. Highway 49, between Haw River and Green Level to contact the agency.
The victim in the hit-and-run on February 12 of last year has been identified as Vangela White, according to Sgt. James Chinnici of the State Highway Patrol, Troop D, District 5, in Graham.
White, 60, black female, had been reported missing by her family several days earlier, the Alamance County sheriff’s department reported at the time.
Chinnici recalled in a recent interview with The Alamance News that no witnesses had been located during an initial investigation into the hit-and-run. “She was found off the right side of the road approximately 18 hours after being struck by a vehicle,” he elaborated. “It was difficult to see her [from] passing vehicles. On Febraury 14, 2022, we did an informational checkpoint at the location [where] her body was found to see if we could get any information…We did not get any.”
Chinnici added, “We are hoping someone grows a conscience” and contacts investigators.
The State Highway Patrol has asked that anyone with leads to contact First Sergeant J.R. Sharlow at (336)570-6809.
