ANSWER: People are apparently confusing the Buc-ee’s land with two parcels that are adjacent but separately owned by Crow Holdings Development, for which a groundbreaking was held last month.
Texas-based Crow Holdings had received approval late last year to build three warehouses on 90 acres at the entrance to the North Carolina Commerce Park in the Hawfields community.
But the company later narrowed its plans to two warehouses and subsequently sold a 32.5-acre parcel to CSMS Management.

Mebane officials said Wednesday that crews that are grading the adjacent property for the two warehouses are, in fact, moving some dirt onto the proposed site for Buc-ee’s, with the permission of CSMS Management.
“Our code enforcement officer drove by the site and there does appear to be some dirt that has been moved into the stockpile area,” Mebane city officials confirmed for the newspaper Wednesday. “No approvals have been provided related to the proposed Buc-ee’s development. Current site work is related to an approved set of plans for Crow Industrial.”
