The National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region 10 Tournament for baseball begins this week in Burlington.
The eight-team NJCAA Division II event runs Friday through early next week at Burlington Athletic Stadium.
It’s a double-elimination event so if a team goes through without a loss, the tournament would end with Monday’s 7:00 p.m. game. The “if necessary” winner-take-all title game would be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Pitt Community College (33-9) and Catawba Valley Community College (39-16) are the top seeds after winning the East Division and West Division, respectively.
Other teams are Brunswick Community College (30-15), Bryant & Stratton College (30-25), Fayetteville Tech College Community (25-29), Louisburg College (31-16), Cleveland Community College (39-13), and Patrick & Henry Community College (31-19).
Games are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. for the first three days. Monday’s games are pegged for 3:00 pm. and 7:00 p.m.
The winner claims the South Atlantic District championship and a bid to the NJCAA Division II World Series from May 24-31 in Enid, Oklahoma.
