Western Alamance alum Joshua Karty’s first game in his home state since high school will come on Thanksgiving weekend.
The release of the NFL schedule this spring shows the Los Angeles Rams visiting the Carolina Panthers at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
Before the date was set, Karty realized the Rams would have a 2025 game in Charlotte.
“I was excited and I think the family and friends were more excited,” he said. “A lot of them haven’t seen me play.”
Karty, a kicker, played as an NFL rookie for the Rams in 2024 after a college career for Stanford. He held a clinic for area youth in April at Western.
The Rams/Panthers game comes in the season’s 13th week.
Carolina’s game against the Rams will follow the Panthers’ first primetime game since mid-2023. The Panthers will be at San Francisco on the Monday night prior to the matchup with the Rams. After facing Los Angeles, the Panthers will have their only off week of the regular season.
For the Rams, they’ll visit Charlotte a week after a Sunday night game against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have other primetime matchups October 2 vs. San Francisco, December 18 at Seattle, and December 29 at Atlanta.
Karty’s season begins September 7 at home against the Houston Texans.
In addition to the Atlanta game, the Rams will make East Coast trips September 21 at Philadelphia and October 12 at Baltimore. There’s also a September 14 trip to Nashville to meet the Tennessee Titans.
The Rams have an October 19 road assignment against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but that game will be contested in London.
