A man whose sound system riled a neighbor is accused of turning up the heat on her even more by setting her fence ablaze when she reported him to the cops.
Jordan Ryan Litchfield allegedly resorted to these escalating tactics on Thursday in an apparent campaign of harassment against a woman who lives next to his home at 4130 NC 119 North on the outskirts of Mebane.
According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, Litchfield’s neighbor contacted the authorities at about 11:00 p.m. after the 36-year-old white male moved his stereo speakers to his front porch and “turned up the volume to a very loud level.”
By the time deputies arrived on the scene, Litchfield had apparently set fire to his neighbor’s temporary fence, which the deputies quickly extinguished. Court records indicate that he also damaged his neighbor’s window with a metal pole before he shut himself up in his own dwelling.
According to the sheriff’s office, Litchfield refused to open his door to the deputies, who went on to obtain a warrant to enter his home and take him into custody. The sheriff’s office went on to charge Litchfield with a felony for burning personal property along with two misdemeanors for injury to personal property, and a third for resisting a public officer. Court records indicate that this bond has been set at $6,000.
