Police in Burlington have arrested a Graham resident for his alleged role in a fatal shooting that occurred along Queen Anne Street about six weeks ago.
John Jayquan Moore IV was taken into custody on Friday as an accessory after the fact to the murder of 39-year-old Stanley Gillom, who was gunned down along the 500 block of Queen Anne Street on February 19.
Burlington’s police department has yet to arrest anyone for Gillom’s actual shooting, which was upgraded to first-degree murder when the victim succumbed to his injuries on March 14. The department nevertheless believes that Moore subsequently intervened to help Gillom’s killers evade justice.
According to a magistrate’s warrant issued on Friday, Moore aided these “unknown coconspirators” by disposing of the handgun used in the murder. As a result, the police department has charged the 27-year-old black male, who hails from 304 Albright Avenue in Graham, with one felony count as an accessory after the fact to first degree murder. Moore is also accused with the illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
Moore’s bond has been set at $150,000 since his arrest.
