Construciton on the huge Medline distribution center being built on the edge of Mebane, in western Orange County, is moving along rapidly, and appears to be nearing completion.
Most of the work has now moved to the interior of the 1.2-million-square-foot building, while most of the exterior appears to be complete.
Medline, an Illinois-based medical supply company, announced its plans to build a 1.2 million-square foot distribution center on 175 acres along the north side of West Ten Road near Gravelly Hill Middle School in western Orange County.
The pace of construction has been intense, especially considering the size of the building, the largest in either Alamance or Orange counties.

Medline currently operates 43 distribution centers in the U.S. At the time it was announced last year, the Mebane facility was slated to be the company’s largest, but eventually would be eclipsed by an even larger plant that Medline is planning to build in the Chicago area, Dmitry Dukhan, vice president of real estate operations for Medline, said last year in an interview with The Alamance News.
