New exhibit now open at Alamance Arts

Sia Yazdanfar photography will be on exhibit at Alamance Arts from today, May 30, through July 1.

The artist reception will be on Thursday, June 13, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

His photographs will be displayed in dual exhibitions at the Sister Galleries and in the Picasso’s Gallery at the Captain White House, 213 South Main Street in Graham.

Yazdanfar is an itinerant photographer, born and raised in Iran, with extended time throughout his formative years spent in Spain, Pakistan, and Nigeria.

He has resided in the U.S. for the majority of his adult life.

A few years ago he went back to his motherland to reconnect with his roots and explore the timeless traditions and trades of different regions in the country.

With each annual series of photographic expeditions, he seeks out under-explored and less revealed people and places of the country, being increasingly  dedicated to traditional worlds in outlying villages and off the beaten path settlements.

With no language barrier and open to tearing down cultural ones, he uses the medium of photographic storytelling to share some of these tales with his audience.
