Tustin Johnson threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Southern Alamance punished visiting Southeast Alamance 35-6 in the first-ever meeting between the neighboring schools.
Jacob Alexander ran for 153 yards and a touchdown, and Sincere Thompson gained 119 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns in the Mid-Carolina Conference opener for both teams.
The Patriots (2-2) drove 80 yards on the game’s opening possession, capped by Johnson’s 1-yard run. Alexander ran 33 yards for the next touchdown.
Southeast (3-1) scored on Austin Cook’s 4-yard run to make it 14-6 before halftime.
The Stallions took the second-half kickoff and moved to Southern’s 7-yard line before stalling.
From there, the Patriots marched down the field and scored on a 32-yard pass play from Johnson to Thompson.
Two plays after Southern regained possession on an interception, Johnson threw 34 yards to Eli Gilley for a touchdown.
Later after another defensive stop, the Patriots needed to go only 25 yards, converting on Thompson’s 20-yard TD run.
Southeast quarterback Tyler Jackson finished 18-for-45 for 224 yards.
It marked the first regular-season loss for Southeast since the 2023 regular-season finale. The Stallions had won 13 straight in the regular season.
Western Alamance 62, Graham 0: At Graham, Kaiden Hatfield returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and the visiting Warriors cruised in the Mid-Carolina Conference opener.
Jordan Hall ran for touchdowns from 37 and 2 yards, Hatfield made an 11-yard touchdown reception, and Ethan Oakley threw for two touchdowns.
Colin Moylan ran for a 36-yard touchdown, Christian Payton scored from 43 yards away, Marqua Sims ran in from 44 yards out. Asaiah Slade grabbed a 16-yard touchdown catch and Jacob Long returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown.
The Warriors (3-1) led 49-0 in the first half.
Western held Graham (0-4) to one first down.
Eastern Alamance 42, Roxboro Person 16: At Roxboro, Jamez Cochran ran for three touchdowns and the Eagles won their second game in a row, this one coming in their first Mid-Carolina Conference game.
Zack Merchel threw for three touchdowns.
Douglas Kittrells, Jr. scored on a 70-yard pass play from Merchel for the game’s first points. Eastern (2-2) scored the first 35 points and led 42-8 at halftime.
Merchel and Kittrells hooked up for a 40-yard TD play. Merchel’s pass to Devontia Clark turned into a touchdown.
Roxboro Person is 2-2.
Cummings 57, Bartlett Yancey 18: At Burlington, the host Cavaliers had their most dominating performance of the season with the non-league romp.
Cummings (2-2) has won two in a row. Bartlett Yancey fell to 1-3.
Cummings has won nine of the last 10 meetings with Bartlett Yancey. A year ago, they were in the same conference.
Williams 24, Heritage 0: At Wake Forest, Christian Booth caught two first-quarter touchdown passes from Kyrian Fuller in the road non-conference victory.
Amarion Richmond’s 4-yard touchdown run opened the second-half scoring as the Bulldogs (3-1) went up 21-0. Faris Ovcina added a 29-yard field goal
Heritage (1-3) threatened in the third quarter by moving inside the Williams 5-yard line before Elijah Kimber’s sack. The Huskies have gone three games in a row without scoring a touchdown.
It marked the second shutout for Williams this season.
