With two games remaining in the regular season, it’s a chance for Alamance County teams to secure football conference titles.
Williams is the first in line with a chance to do so in the Central 3-A Conference.
For Cummings and Southeast Alamance, there’s one more stop before next week’s Mid-Carolina Conference showdown.
There are two intra-county clashes Friday night and two more on next week’s schedule.
All games start at 7:00 p.m. Here’s a look at this week’s matchups:
Eastern Alamance at Southern Alamance
Southern (5-3, 3-1) has won three consecutive games in the Central 3-A Conference.
The Patriots are aiming for what would be only their fifth victory in the last 20 meetings in the series. Southern won 14-7 last year in Mebane.
Even though Eastern (2-6, 2-2) was winless into October, the Eagles could mathematically emerge as a co-champion in the conference. Eastern is trying to produce a three-game winning streak for the first time since a season-opening five-game string ended in September 2023.
Williams at Cedar Ridge
Williams (7-1, 4-0) can clinch at least a share of the Central 3-A Conference title and secure the league’s top seed for the state playoffs by winning.
The Bulldogs, who didn’t play last week, have won seven games in a row.
Cedar Ridge (0-9, 0-5) will be in its final game of the season.
Western Alamance at Roxboro Person
The Warriors (6-2, 3-1) play their road finale, trying to keep their league title hopes alive. Western has posted two shutouts in league play.
Only in two visits to Burlington – at Cummings and at Williams – have the Warriors allowed more than a single-digit point total this year.
Roxboro Person (5-3, 2-2) is 0-6 against teams from Alamance County last year and this season combined, with all of those defeats by 14 or fewer points.
Western beat the Rockets 21-19 last year.
Southeast Alamance at Graham
Southeast (8-0, 6-0) hasn’t given up a point in its past three games. The Stallions played their last three games at home and finish the regular season with two in-county trips.
Graham (1-7, 1-5) plays its home finale. The Red Devils haven’t scored a touchdown in their past two games.
Southeast won last year’s matchup by 55-8.
Cummings at North Moore
These teams were Mid-Carolina Conference co-champions last year, with North Moore claiming a 36-33 decision in a meeting in Burlington.
Cummings (7-1, 6-0) has a six-game winning streak that includes three road outings. Those away-from-home successes have come by an average margin of 41.3 points per game.
North Moore (4-4, 4-2) can finish no higher than a tie for second place in the conference. The Mustangs have won four games in a row, scoring at least 38 points in all of those.
