A man from Pleasant Grove found himself behind bars last week after he allegedly assaulted his stepchildren for their supposedly slipshod completion of household chores.

Jimmy Ray Brafford was ultimately taken into custody after a report about his alleged physical abuse reached the special victims unit of the local sheriff’s office on Tuesday, January 10.
According to the sheriff’s office, Brafford’s 12- and 13-year-old stepchildren showed bruises and other visible signs of abuse when they spoke with the authorities. The two children attributed these injuries to the punishment that Brafford inflicted on them “for not performing their chores to his satisfaction.”
According to the sheriff’s office, Brafford fled his residence along Pleasant Grove Union School Road in the wake of these allegations. The 35-year-old white male was nevertheless tracked down at his parents’ home in Caswell County and transported to Alamance County’s jail.
Brafford currently faces two felony counts of child abuse with the infliction of serious injury along with two more felony counts of assault by strangulation. He has been placed under a $100,000 bond since his arrest.
