A man wanted for a recent shooting in Burlington has reportedly been captured in High Point after a multi-agency manhunt.
Millard Hanibal Levi Elswick was ultimately taken into custody last Wednesday for a non-fatal shooting that occurred along Maple Avenue on the evening of Sunday, July 3.
According to Burlington’s police department, the 33-year-old Burlington resident had wounded 31-year-old Christopher Shawn Bailey when he allegedly fired into a home along
Maple Avenue’s 600 block. Elswick has consequently been charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling as well as assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill while inflicting serious injury. He is also accused of illegally carrying a firearm as a previously convicted felon.
According to Burlington’s police department, Elswick was taken into custody with help from the police departments in Archdale, High Point, and Thomasville, as well as the office of Randolph County’s sheriff. He is currently being detained in Guilford County without bond.
