Police in Burling-ton have announced the arrest of a suspect in a convenience store robbery that took place over the Memorial Day weekend.
According to the city’s police department, Richard Lamar Hart, Jr. was taken into custody on Monday – just two days after he allegedly held up a location of Family Fare at 2227 Maple Avenue on Saturday evening.
A 39-year-old black male of 1407 Durham Street, Hart was ultimately apprehended during a traffic stop where officers also reportedly found evidence from the convenience store hold up. A subsequent search of his home reportedly turned up additional evidence germane to this case.

In addition to a felony-level charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon, Hart also faces a misdemeanor violation for driving with a revoked license as well as a second felony for the illegal possession of a firearm as a previously convicted felon.
No bond has been authorized since Hart’s arrest.
