Darren Powell (2005-13, men’s soccer coach),

Kelsey Evans (Class of 2013, women’s basketball),

Ryan Kinsella (2014, baseball),

Carleigh Nester (2014, softball),

Lucas Troutman (2014, men’s basketball),

and Luis Vargas (2015, men’s cross country).

The school’s 53rd Hall of Fame class will be inducted September 16 inside Schar Center. The group will be recognized later that evening during an Elon football game vs. North Carolina A&T.

Soccer slate revealed

Elon’s men’s soccer team, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association regular-season champion, has three non-conference, in-state road games on its 2023 schedule against teams that were in last year’s NCAA Tournament.

The Phoenix, which received an at-large bid to last year’s NCAAs and lost a home game to Marshall, visits High Point (September 12), North Carolina (October 3) and Duke (October 10). The Phoenix goes to NCAA Tournament participant South Florida (September 17) as well. There’s also an October 18 date at Charlotte, which has been in four of the last five NCAA Tournaments.

Elon meets visiting Hofstra in a rematch of last year’s CAA Tournament championship game September 30 at Rudd Field. The Phoenix opens the season August 25 vs. Furman in a game on Duke’s campus.

Ex-guard takes job with basketball team

Sean Halloran, a guard who played as a graduate transfer for Elon last season, is filling a role as director of basketball operations with the men’s basketball program, the school announced Monday.

In his one season on the court for the Phoenix, Halloran led Elon with 13 points per game and 1.8 assists while tying the school’s Division I record with 56 steals. He first played for Elon coach Billy Taylor as an undergraduate at Division II Belmont Abbey.

Elon athletes honored

Elon shared the league-high mark with four recipients of the CAA’s Leadership and Sports Excellence Award for the 2022-23 academic year. Each of 21 sports (other than football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball because they have separate awards) has one designated winner of the award.

Elon’s recipients were Jeppe Jordoson (men’s soccer),
