Sheetz in Swepsonville getting underway

Workers have begun clearing land on the outskirts of Swepsonville in preparation for the construction of a new Sheetz gas station that the town’s leaders approved in the fall of 2025.

Located at the juncture of NC 54 and Jim Minor Road, this retail pitstop will be the fifth location that the Sheetz gas station chain has in Alamance County once it’s complete.

Swepsonville’s town council approved this project in November despite a barrage of objections from residents who attended a public hearing that month.

The council went on to give its unanimous blessing to the gas station’s zoning, its annexation into Swepsonville’s limits, and a payment of $100,000 to subsidize the extension of sewer lines to serve the incoming business.
