The local sheriff’s office is on the lookout for a Yanceyville resident who investigators believe took part in a kidnapping and armed robbery in November.
According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, Parris Lavietea Shoffner was one of four suspects who held up a fifth individual on November 22. A 20-year-old black male of 1701 Burton Chapel Road in Yanceyville is the only one of the four culprits who has yet to be taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office adds that deputies have previously apprehended 19-year-old Dwane Curtis Jackson of 735 Ray Street in Burlington and 18-year-old Lavarris Amar Love of 108 Burton Street in Graham for their alleged roles in this case. According to court records, the two teenagers were arrested on December 18 and 19, respectively, and have since been placed under bonds of $100,000.
Also in custody, according to the sheriff’s office, is a juvenile under 18 whose name and particulars have not been released.
Court records indicate that these three suspects teamed up with Shoffner on November 22 to rob a fifth individual whom they encountered in the vicinity of Jim Minor Road. The suspects either detained the suspect or forcibly moved him at gunpoint. Then, they reportedly relieved him of various items of personal property, which included a pair of “red and black Jordans,” a gold chain with a cross, a zip up Ralph Lauren hoodie worth $400, $50 in cash, and another $50 dollars that they obtained through a cash app.
According to the sheriff’s office, Jackson and Love are both charged with armed robbery and first degree kidnapping. Shoffner, meanwhile, is being sought for the same two offenses.
The sheriff’s office urges anyone who knows Shoffner’s whereabouts to call 9-1-1 or contact Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100 to leave an anonymous tip.
