Several Burlington water customers will lose service for several hours between late Thursday night and early Friday, August 30, as part of a planned outage.
Burlington city officials said that the water department plans to shut off service starting at 10:30 p.m. Thursday for a water line replacement project.
The planned water outage is part of a state Department of Transportation water line project along Highway 70, Burlington city officials explained in a news release.
The service outage is currently expected to last between four and six hours.
The affected area includes approximately four to five houses along a portion of U.S. Highway 70 in Burlington that runs from University Drive to Stoney Creek.
However, Burlington city officials said that the outage could also affect tie-ins to the line in several other nearby areas.
Those include: Gibsonville; Whitsett; the Verona subdivision; Springwood Park and surrounding areas; and the Ashley Woods (Gibsonville) and Brightwood Farms subdivision. The outage could also affect anyone serviced by the water line along Highway 70, city officials said. Any affected water customers may call (336)516-6525 for additional information or questions.
