D.J. Callis rushed for 129 yards and Southeast Alamance returned to winning form with a 48-8 victory against visiting Cummings in Mid-Carolina Conference football Friday night.
Quarterback Tyler Jackson threw for two touchdowns and ran for another for the Stallions (4-1 overall, 1-1 Mid-Carolina Conference), who recovered from a loss a week earlier at Southern Alamance. Josh Gant returned a kickoff for a touchdown and Alex Parrish had an interception return for a touchdown.
Callis and Treygan Lucas rushed for touchdowns. Logan Luang-Sy and Jatayvion McMillian made scoring catches, with McMillian compiling 110 receiving yards. Jackson completed nine of 11 throws for 192 yards.
Rodney Pringle and Jace Evans also had interceptions for Southeast’s defense.
Southeast has won three in a row against Cummings, including last year’s regular-season finale that was played with the conference championship on the line.
Cummings (2-3, 0-2) trailed 28-0 at halftime and didn’t score until trailing 42-0 in the fourth quarter. Luke Hadley ran for the touchdown.
Williams 56, Graham 6: The host Bulldogs scored three early touchdowns on the way to a Mid-Carolina Conference romp at Burlington Memorial Stadium.
Amarion Richmond and Jazian Bigelow each scored two rushing touchdowns, and Kyrian Fuller (on a 65-yard sprint) and William Overby both ran for one touchdown.
Fuller threw a touchdown pass to Braeden Vetter, while Bubba Sims scored on a punt return. Williams (4-1, 2-0) led 50-0 at halftime.
Graham (0-5, 0-2) scored on Ja’den Hamlet’s pass to Devin Hennix.
Western Alamance 43, Roxboro Person 16: At Elon, Jordan Hall ran for three touchdowns and 99 yards in the Mid-Carolina Conference home game.
The Warriors (4-1, 2-0), who were charted for 345 yards of total offense, have won four games in a row.
Ethan Oakley threw for 160 yards, including a 63-yard scoring pass to Colten Hill.
Christian Payton ran for a 21-yard touchdown and defensive back Riley Poteat returned a fumble 22 yards for a touchdown. The Warriors also had a two-point conversion pass from Mason Buzzard to Dawson Boysel.
Roxboro Person (2-3, 0-2) was held to 52 yards of total offense. The Rockets’ second touchdown came on a fourth-quarter interception return.
Eastern Guilford 35, Orange 0: At Hillsborough, Tyler Whaley-Melvin and Javion Majette each scored two touchdowns as the visiting Wildcats rolled in a matchup between teams that have combined to play five games against Alamance County teams. Eastern Guilford (3-2) and Orange (0-5) are idle this week.
A week off
All Alamance County varsity teams have the week off from games at the regular season’s midway mark. The next games come October 3.
However, there’s a junior varsity make-up game this week with Southern Alamance visiting Southeast Alamance on Thursday night.
