Graham police have arrested a veteran Southern High School teacher and coach who is charged with two sex-related crimes: felony taking indecent liberties with a student and felony solicitation of prostitution.
Charged Thursday (June 5) is Nicholas Allen Anders, 52, white, male, 101 Kingston Lane, Graham.
According to the arrest warrant, the victim of his indecent liberties charge was a student at Southern High School.
According to Graham police, the investigation began the previous week (May 29) based on a report of a teacher having inappropriate sexual contact with a student. During the course of the investigation, Graham police investigators say they discovered that Anders had also been involved in separate incidents involving the solicitation of prostitution within the Graham area.
Meanwhile, Anders, who had been employed with the school system for over 20 years – since January 3, 2005 – resigned the following day, May 30, 2025.
In response to a public records request about his tenure, the school system also notes that he was suspended one day with pay back in April (April 23-April 24), without any elaboration on the reason.
According to school system records, Anders, who is listed as a career/technical education teacher in one listing and as an agriculture teacher in another, had a regular annual salary of $64,656.00; additionally he has received several supplements for work as a coach at the school; he also received a locally-funded supplement of $8,595.72.
He has served as assistant lacrosse coach, weightlifting coach, junior varsity volleyball coach, and assistant track coach.
According to ABSS, he served as an advisor to the Career & Technical Student Organization, for which he had been paid $1,000 year; and a substitute bus drive (at $26.20 per hour). For his coaching duties, he received: $768 a year for weightlifting; $1,240 per season for volleyball; $1,798 for lacrosse; and $1,240 per season for track.
According to court records, he was also the high school’s assistant athletic director.
He was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center where he was given a $75,000 Secured Bond. He is scheduled to appear in Alamance County District Court for his first appearance today (June 6). According to court records, he has retained Graham attorney Tony DiLello as his defense counsel.
