Southeast Alamance, Western Alamance, and Williams all have 4-3 records to share first place with three Mid-Carolina Conference baseball games remaining.
The regular season concludes May 1. Eastern Alamance is 4-4, Roxboro Person is 3-4, and Southern is 3-5, leaving the possibility of a five-way tie atop the standings.
Williams has an overall six-game winning streak after defeating host Western 6-2 on Tuesday night.
Williams pitcher Cooper Marks pitched six innings against his former team and also delivered at the plate during the Bulldogs’ five-run fourth inning. Liam KerrFinger added a run-scoring single in the sixth.
Western led 2-0 after Frederick Harrelson Jr. scored in the first and third innings.
The rematch is Friday night at Williams.
- Vince Coker and Bubba Sims combined on a two-hitter and Williams scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Eastern 3-0 on Friday night. Coker, Sims, and Marks scored the runs.
- Southern Alamance scored twice with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 6-5 victory against visiting Roxboro Person on Friday. Both runs scored on the game’s final play, with two errors prior to an interference call that allowed Dalton Black, who began on first base, to score the decisive run.
Garrett Ledbetter was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts.
As part of the night’s game, the press box at the field was named “Eddie Wood Press Box” in a ceremony honoring the longtime Patriots assistant coach.
Kaden Parker homered twice and drove in four runs and Weston Murphy had three hits and knocked in four runs when Southern Ala-mance won 15-5 at Providence Grove last week. Cooper Partin had a home run and double and also pitched three innings, while Eli Gilley logged four innings on the mound for Southern.
- Southeast nipped host Roxboro Person 5-4 on Tuesday with Ayden Brown and Tyler Jackson combining for the pitching.
With Paxton Piccini and Jackson handling the pitching, Southeast won 9-2 at Chatham Central on Friday.
- Western lost two non-conference games last week, beginning with an 11-6 setback at Southwest Guilford. Frederick Harrelson Jr. scored in the first inning and his second-inning double pushed the Warriors to a 4-1 lead. Jorge Banda later hit a two-run double for Western.
The Warriors lost 7-6 when Northwest Guilford scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Harrelson’s three-run double in the second inning sparked Western, a sacrifice fly by Gavin Davis in the sixth tied the game at 5-5 and the Warriors pulled even again at 6-6 on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh.
- Eastern belted visiting Bethany Community 16-2 in 4½ innings Tuesday.
- Clover Garden’s Chandler Caudle knocked in four runs and Brice Stanfield drove in three runs in host Clover Garden’s 16-6 victory against River Mill in Friday’s Central Tar Heel 1-A Conference game. Peyton Tubbs had three hits for River Mill.
Brayden DeAlto homered, Caudle drove in two runs, and Clover Garden scored the last five runs to defeat host Bethany Community 8-5 in eight innings last week. DeAlto struck out 10 batters in five innings and Ethan Saunders threw three shutout innings.
Clover Garden lost 10-0 at Chatham Charter on Tuesday.
- Harrison Saenz had three hits and Peyton Tubbs and James Penrod both knocked in two runs when River Mill defeated visiting Eno River 5-3 on Monday.
- Cohen Payne pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings and Anthony Valdez had two hits in Burlington Christian Academy’s 5-4 road victory against Triad Baptist Christian on Friday.
BCA lost 6-5 to visiting Northwest Guilford on Monday despite Patrick Triolo’s three hits and two runs batted in.
