Three earn Girl Scout silver award

Kallie Griffin, Abigail Goforth and Summer Ocegueda of Girl Scout Troop #13012 each earned the Girl Scout Silver Award. For their Silver Award, they partnered with The Community of Faith at Alamance Lutheran Church to design, build, and stock a blessing box, called KAS (after the first initial of each girl) that stands for Keeping Alamance Supplied.

For the Girl Scout Silver Award, each girl needed to complete 50 or more hours of work towards a sustainable project. It is the highest honor they can earn in their age group. The girls love their community and saw a need and created a sustainable project that will provide food and necessities.

Kallie Griffin of Mebane is the daughter of Christina Griffin. Abigail Goforth of Snow Camp is the daughter of Stephanie Goforth. Summer Ocegueda of Gibsonville is the daughter of Desiree DeAnda.

They welcome Alamance County residents to visit the blessing box to take items as needed or donate unexpired food, hygiene, and paper products. The Blessing Box can be found at 4008 S NC Highway 62/Alamance Road in Alamance.
