A trio of area residents has been arrested for their alleged roles in a violent home invasion that took place in Burlington on Thursday.
Shaundale William Young, Davon Jaheem Ingram, and Maurice Lamont Shavers III were rounded up within a few hours of the brutal armed robbery, which occurred along the 1500 block of Edith Street at about 2:00 p.m.
According to Burlington’s police department, the three perpetrators had donned masks before they burst into one of the homes on this block with firearms and knives at the ready. They went on to hold two adult victims hostage as they helped themselves to cash and other items from inside the dwelling.
During the course of this break-in, one of victims was reportedly stabbed and had to be hospitalized with a non-fatal knife wound. The suspects, meanwhile, fled the scene in a white van, leaving the victims to call 9-1-1.
According to the city’s police department, sheriff’s deputies caught up with the van shortly after the crime was reported. Members of Burlington’s police force were soon on the scene, where they arrested all three of the vehicle’s occupants for their suspected parts in the robbery.
According to the police department, Shavers, Ingram, and Young all face charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and both first- and second-degree kidnapping. Shavers has also incurred an additional charge of assault with a dangerous weapon with the infliction of serious injury for the aforementioned stabbing.
A 26-year-old black male of 2107 Martin Street, Shavers has been further accused of the illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon and the possession of marijuana with the intent to sell or deliver the drug. He has been jailed without bond since his arrest.
A charge of firearm possession by a felon has also been filed against Young. The 25-year-old black male of 347 Foster Street is, likewise, detained without bond.
Ingram, a 23-year-old black male of 2528 McKinney Street, has reportedly been released on a secured bond of $100,000.
