Williams High School was locked down this morning for less than an hour after Burlington police responded to a 911 call of an active shooter at the high school.
Burlington police subsequently reported having responded to the call at approximately 9:55 a.m. A heavy police presence was reported by those in the area at the time.
According to police, once on campus, responding officers, along with two on-duty School Resource Officers already on site, searched the campus and determined there was no evidence of an active threat to students and staff.
Police concluded that the 911 call had been a false report.
Detectives are still in the process of gathering information regarding the false call to 911, and this investigation is ongoing, according to police.
