Two face felony charges after pair of drug raids

Two people have been arrested on an assortment of drug charges after sheriff’s deputies raided a pair of homes in the Burlington area.

Mozarrod al Shamir Shakur Lyons and Maaziah Ladawn Rogers were taken into custody last Tuesday based on the results of the searches of Apartment E at 760 Boone Station Drive in Burlington and 1216 Haw River Hopedale Road, which is situated just beyond Burlington’s municipal limits.

According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, these searches were executed as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. In both cases, they yielded illegal drugs and other items of contraband that have resulted in charges against the two suspects.

Among the felony-level charges filed against Lyons are two counts of maintaining a dwelling for the sale or distribution of illegal drugs and one count, each, of trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in cocaine, the sale or delivery of fentanyl, and possession with the intent to sell or deliver fentanyl, marijuana, and coke.

The 31-year-old black male, who resides at the apartment which deputies searched along Boone Station Drive, also faces a felony charge for the illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon and a misdemeanor for the possession of drug paraphernalia. He has been held without bond since his arrest.

Rogers, meanwhile, faces one felony count of the following: cocaine trafficking, maintaining a dwelling for drug sales or distribution, and the possession of cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana with the intent to sell or deliver the drugs.

Maaziah Ladawn Rogers

A 19-year-old black female of 803 East Davis Street, Rogers is also accused of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond has been set at $200,000.
