American National Bank has entered into a merger agreement with Atlantic Union Bank.
American National Bank currently operates five locations in Alamance County: at 1240 Huffman Mill Road, 1840 Brookwood Avenue, and 3101 South Church Street in Burlington; at 842 South Main Street, Graham; and 1008 Mebane Oaks Road in Mebane.
Atlantic Union Bank announced the merger, which is expected to be finalized during the first financial quarter of 2024, in a recent press release. The combined institutions will have 135 branches in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland.
Atlantic Union Bank has not yet disclosed whether it intends to continue operating all of the existing local branches for American National Bank.
“There is nothing you need to do differently – you can still visit the same American National branches, call the same people, and use the digital tools you use today,” American National Bank president and CEO Jeffrey V. Haley explained in its own recent announcement of the merger.
American National Bank is headquartered in Danville, Virginia and has 26 branches, primarily in southern Virginia and the Piedmont/Triad region of North Carolina.
Atlantic Union Bank officials said the bank will continue to remain headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
