There are three Mid-Carolina Conference football games Friday night. Here’s a look:
Western Alamance at Southeast Alamance
The Stallions (6-0 overall, 2-0 Mid-Carolina Conference) will be in their regular-season home finale before three road games.
Western (4-1, 1-0) is coming off its first loss. The Warriors have won their two road games so far.
Western beat visiting Southeast 14-7 last year in the first meeting between the programs.
Williams at Southern Alamance
Williams (3-0, 1-0), the defending conference champion, hasn’t played a league game since its opener. In the five Fridays since then, the Bulldogs have had only two games.
Neither team played last week as it was a scheduled open date for both.
Putting together a scouting report on Williams has been a challenge for Southern coach Jonathan Hester.
“They’ve only played three,” Hester said. “It’s hard to get tendencies through three games.”
Southern (4-1, 1-1) has been involved in three games decided by four points or less, winning two of those.
Running back Sincere Thompson of Southern has foorushed for 1,056 yards (averaging 211.2 per game). Quarterback Tustin Johnson has seven rushing touchdowns, including six in the past two games combined.
“Teams key in on Sincere and now it has opened up the door for other guys,” Hester said. “It takes some pressure off Sincere where those other guys can get going.”
Southern defensive back C.J. McAdoo, who’s also a playmaker on offense, hasn’t played since an injury in the second game of the season. He’s expected back in action this week.
“We don’t have a lot of guys out with injuries, but we’ve got some beat up,” Hester said.
Eastern Alamance at Cummings
Both teams were off last week.
Eastern (3-2, 1-1) has scored more than 40 points in its three victories and fewer than 20 in its two defeats.
Cummings (1-4, 0-2) hasn’t won a home game in more than a year. The Cavaliers have lost four straight, including two this year, on home turf.
Eastern has won the last 10 meetings – all by double-figure margins – in the series, including 57-13 last year.
