Bradyn Oakley, a Western Alamance graduate and four-year member of the Davidson College football team, announced this week that he’s entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.
Oakley, who primarily played the slot position, has a season of eligibility remaining.
Oakley, a team captain, started every game this season for the Wildcats, who were the Pioneer Football League’s representative in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
Oakley racked up 283 rushing yards and 65 receiving yards this year. He had a touchdown catch.
Oakley, a psychology major, was a Pioneer Football League all-academic first team selection. It marks the third year in a row that he received all-academic honors from the league.
Elon punter to leave
Punter Jeff Yurk is leaving Elon’s football team in a transfer to Pittsburgh.
Yurk, a sophomore, set an Elon single-season record with an average of 44.1 yards per punt this year, rating fifth nationally in the FCS. He was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association third team.
He had 16 punts of 50 or more yards and 18 punts that went inside the 20-yard line.
Pittsburgh used three different punters during the regular season. Each of the trio had at least nine punts and the team average is 37.2 yards per attempt going into the Sun Bowl vs. UCLA.
Yurk also was the holder for record-setting kicker Skyler Davis.
