Western Alamance alum Noah Henderson posted a pool record in his final home meet for North Carolina State’s men’s swimming team.
Henderson reset a Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center record by finishing the 50-yard freestyle in 19.13 seconds to take first place in Friday’s non-conference meet against UNC Wilmington.
He was also part of two first-place relays, contributing to his selection as the Men’s Swimmer of the Week in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Henderson, a fifth-year swimmer using the extra season of eligibility granted by the NCAA for those who competed in the 2020-21 (Covid) season, held a share of the 50 freestyle pool record at 19.18 seconds (from November) before improving on that.
He handled the final leg of the 200 medley relay with a split of 18.72 seconds as the Wolfpack won with a time of 1 minute 23.94 seconds. He led off the 200 freestyle relay with a split of 19.29 as part of N.C. State’s time of 1:16.94.
N.C. State won Senior Day meet 172-104.
Next for the Wolfpack is the ACC championships February 20-24 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Henderson is a three-time ACC champion and nine-time All-American.
