Western Alamance’s girls’ soccer team is the lone Alamance County team still participating in the spring sports postseason.
The Warriors need two more victories to repeat as state champions.
Top-seeded Western (23-0) faces second-seeded Dixon (18-3-2) on Tuesday night at home in the Class 5-A East Region final. Neither team has allowed a goal across three games apiece in the state playoffs after they received first-round byes.
Western and Dixon have met in the 2023 and 2025 state playoffs, with each team claiming 1-0 victories. Western won last year.
Tuesday night’s winner will advance to the state championship game against Hickory or South Point on either Friday or Saturday at Durham County Stadium.
Western claimed a 4-0 victory against No. 12 seed Southern Nash in Thursday’s fourth round, scoring two goals in each half.

Southern Alamance’s bid to reach the Class 6-A state championships series was derailed in the decisive game of the East Region finals.
Southern Lee pinned a 13-3 loss on the Patriots in Game 3 of the best-of-3 series Friday night in Sanford. That came just two days after Southern Alamance halted the Cavaliers’ 19-game winning streak in Game 2.
Southern Lee will face South Caldwell, the West Region titlist, in the state championship series later this week in either Burlington or Holly Springs.
Softball
Southeast Alamance’s best season in program history ended shy of reaching the Class 5-A state championship round.
Sixth-seeded West Carteret swept top-seeded Southeast in the best-of-3 East Regional finals by winning 7-1 in Game 2 on Thursday in Morehead City.
West Carteret will face Enka in the state finals this week at either Duke or UNC Greensboro.
