Western Alamance’s girls’ soccer team is the No. 1 seed for the Class 3-A East Region for the state playoffs.
The Warriors looked the part with a 9-0 decision against No. 32 seed Triton in Tuesday’s rescheduled first-round game.
Kayley Lee and Alison Thomas both notched three goals, Callie Athas scored twice and Kennedy Vaughn had one goal.
Western (19-0-1) will face No. 16 seed Richlands (12-10-2) in Thursday night’s second round at home.
Also in Class 3-A, 2023 state champion Eastern Alamance blasted No. 22 seed Lee County 7-1 in Monday’s first round behind two goals each from Abby Brinker, Ryen Gibbs and Lilly Massey. Addie Lowe also had a goal for the No. 11 seed Eagles.
In the second round, Eastern (16-1-2) visits sixth-seeded Carrboro (20-0-1).

Williams is seeded No. 23, pulling off a 3-0 victory at No. 10 seed Fayetteville Sanford on Tuesday. Harper Holt, Abigail Brown and Holden Hall each scored a goal. Mary Edwards made 10 saves for the shutout for the Bulldogs (7-11-2), who go to No. 7 seed Wilson Hunt (17-2-3) on Thursday.
Southern Alamance, holding the No. 25 seed, dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to eighth-seeded Cape Fear on Tuesday. Cayla Shaw had the goal for the Patriots (10-10-2).
- In Class 2-A, No. 16 seed Southeast Alamance lost 4-3 in a first-round matchup against Mid-Carolina Conference rival Northwood, the No. 16 seed, on Monday.
Keyanna Holliman had two goals and Abby Stadnicar had the other goal for Southeast (11-8-2).
- In Class 1-A, No. 18 seed Clover Garden fell 5-0 at No. 15 seed Roxboro Community on Monday, leaving the Grizzlies with a 9-11 record.
No. 20 seed River Mill lost 4-0 at No. 13 seed Southern Wake on Tuesday. The Jaguars finished with an 8-11-1 record.
- In the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association, the season ended for Burlington Christian Academy with Saturday’s 1-0 overtime loss at Caldwell Academy, which scored on Deirdre Derengowski’s goal in the second overtime period. The Royals finished 18-4.
Last Thursday, BCA topped visiting Hickory Christian 9-0 on four goals from Ava Cardwell, two goals apiece from Adalynn House and Blakeley Bork and one goal from Kate Cockman.
