Jordan Hall scored two early touchdowns and Western Alamance pulled away for a 42-13 road victory against Southwest Guilford on Friday night in High Point.
Hall gained 162 yards on 17 carries, part of Western’s 347 rushing yards and 438 yards of total offense.
The Warriors (1-1), who led 14-7 at halftime, scored 35 straight points. Quarterback Ethan Oakley’s third-quarter run ignited the second-half offense.
Colin Moylan and Christian Payton ran for touchdowns. Riley Poteat returned a punt for a touchdown.
The Warriors held Southwest Guilford (0-2) to 12 rushing yards.
Southeast Alamance 41, Seaforth 12: At Pittsboro, the visiting Stallions rolled against a former conference rival.
Southeast (2-0) is the only undefeated team in Alamance County. The Stallions led 28-0 at halftime.
Seaforth dropped to 0-2.
Eastern Guilford 20, Williams 14: At Gibsonville, the host Wildcats made a late defensive stand to hang on.
Eastern Guilford (2-0) has pulled out a pair of narrow victories this year.
Williams is 1-1.
Northeast Guilford 20, Eastern Alamance 7: At McLeansville, the host Rams went ahead on a tie-breaking pass play with less than five minutes remaining and then tacked on another touchdown.
The game ended with 1:25 remaining because the stadium lights went out.
Zack Merchel’s touchdown pass to Douglas Kittrells, Jr. in the fourth quarter allowed the Eagles (0-2) to pull even.
The Rams (2-0) led 7-0 at halftime.
Patrick Henry (Virginia) 27, Southern Alamance 0: At Mt. Hermon, Southern Alamance failed to convert on offense in the home loss.
After trailing 7-0 at halftime, Southern went 0-for-5 on attempts at fourth-down conversions in the second half.
Southern didn’t complete any of its 11 passes, with five of those intercepted by the team from Roanoke.
Southern’s Nathan McNeal rushed for 126 yards on 23 carries, accounting for a large chunk of the team’s 186 rushing yards.
Thomasville 37, Cummings 30: At Thomasville, the visiting Cavaliers put up some points after a shutout loss a week earlier, but they still came up short.
Cummings fell to 0-2. Thomasville is 1-1.
Cedar Ridge 28, Graham 6: At Hillsborough, Cedar Ridge had a solid second half and the Red Wolves ended a 29-game losing streak that extended to 2022 with the home victory.
Cedar Ridge (1-1) built its lead to 14-6 in the third quarter when Graham, while in punt formation, had a snap go through the end zone for a safety.
Graham (0-2) led 6-0 on Dytavious Spencer’s 14-yard return with a fumble before a failed two-point conversion. Cedar Ridge had all the second-quarter scoring for a 12-6 halftime edge.
Cedar Ridge hadn’t won since August 26, 2022, against visiting East Chapel Hill.
