Western Alamance alum Joshua Karty of Stanford is an Associated Press first-team preseason All-American.

Karty is a fourth-year kicker for the Cardinal. He was a third-team AP All-American last year and a finalist for the Lou Groza Award as the nation’s top kicker, going 18-for-18 on field goals and 24-for-25 on extra-point kicks.

Other selections of note include quarterback Drake Maye of North Carolina on the AP preseason second team. Maye’s teammate Cedric Gray is a preseason second-team linebacker.
