Passersby have observed a fenced-off area around a downtown office building along Maple Avenue in Burlington across the street from Burlington’s city hall and in front of the LabCorp headquarters.
What they may not know is the plans to demolish the building. Workers with Morrisville-based DPR Construction have rolled in the heavy equipment as they prepare to demolish an old office building that LabCorp owns across the street from Burlington’s city hall.
Located at 231 Maple Avenue, this 76-year-old edifice has been in LabCorp’s hands since 1998, when the medical testing giant acquired the property from its previous owner for $200,000.
According to Burlington’s inspections department, Labcorp obtained a permit to raze the 59,904-square-foot structure on March 27 of this year. The company has yet to file any plans for its post-demolition use of the site.
