A woman from Snow Camp has been arrested for allegedly helping her husband, a previously convicted felon, acquire a firearm that he later used to threaten her in her own home.
Amanda Kristen Heavener was taken into custody last Wednesday on one count of aiding and abetting Charles William Heavener II in the commission of this felony-level offense.
According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, Amanda Heavener’s arrest followed the discovery of a firearm in her husband’s possession more than three months ago. Court records indicate that Charles Heavener’s original felony conviction dates back to an arrest in 2000 for speeding to elude law enforcement.
His latest brush with the law occurred in February of this year when he was arrested for indecent liberties with a child, firing gunshots inside his home in order to terrify his wife, and felony-level child abuse, which allegedly involved showing a minor how to commit suicide by slitting her wrists.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Charles Heavener had received the firearm he discharged from the 43-year-old white female, who shares his home address at 7395 Coble Mill Road, Snow Camp.
Amanda Heavener has been released since her arrest under a $10,000 unsecured bond.
