Woman arrested for attack on convenience store clerk

Police in Burlington have arrested a 40-year-old white woman for an assault on a convenience store clerk that reportedly left the victim hospitalized in critical condition.

Dimond Desire Levario was ultimately taken into custody less than eight hours after the assault took place at the Burlington Grill and Food Mart at 217 Ireland Street on Saturday afternoon.

According to the city’s police department, the clerk’s injury was initially reported by a passing motorist who had noticed the victim clenching his bloody neck in the parking lot of the business.

The clerk was reportedly unconscious by the time that emergency crews arrived on the scene at 2:26 p.m. Police were nevertheless able to identify Levario as the presumed culprit and charged her with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and the infliction of serious injury.

According to the police department, Levario was picked up at about 10:00 p.m. and jailed under a bond of $500,000.
