Woman charged with murder after she mows down pedestrians with car

A woman from Graham is behind bars this week after she allegedly drove down four pedestrians – killing one in the process – following a scuffle in the town of Green Level.

Tamyiah Lakerria Anderson was ultimately taken into custody near the scene of the collision, which took place along the 2400 block of East Simpson Road shortly before 10:48 p.m. on Friday.

Witnesses subsequently told sheriff’s deputies that Anderson had been in a fight at an East Simpson residence before she plowed her car into a group of four pedestrians, who were later found in the roadway. The 21-year-old black female reportedly dragged two of the pedestrians behind her car before she careened into a concrete barrier at a nearby mobile home park.

According to the office of Alamance County’s sheriff, this grisly collision ended the life of 22-year-old Brandy Janet Garcia Resenidiz of Graham and left another individual seriously injured. The two other pedestrians received minor injuries – as did Anderson, who was treated at an area hospital and later released.

In the wake of this incident, the sheriff’s office charged Anderson with second degree murder as well as three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill. In the meantime, the state troopers have filed additional charges against Anderson for driving while impaired, driving with an open container of alcohol, driving left of the center line, failing to fasten her seat belt, and resisting, obstructing, or delaying a law enforcement operation.

Anderson has been jailed without bond since her arrest.
