Burlington police have announced the arrest of Daniel McInnis, principal of Eastlawn Elementary School, who has been charged today with one count of statutory sex offense on school property, a felony.
McInnis, white, male, 43, 632 Country Club Drive, Burlington, was arrested Friday, booked at the Alamance County Detention Center, and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Police said they began an investigation on December 8, after detectives in their Special Victims Unit (SVU) received information alleging a school administrator at Eastlawn was involved in misconduct with a student on school property.
Police say officials at the school system were made aware that the administrator was under investigation and cooperated fully during the Burlington Police Department’s investigation.
School officials confirmed that McInnis has been principal at Eastlawn for 11 years, since November 5, 2012; he had previously been the assistant principal at the school since July 5, 2011. He makes $114,851.16 annually. He was suspended with pay effective December 12, 2023, according to the school system.
