Jonathan Henry arrived back at Graham after a brief departure and figured that’s where he belongs for his senior season of football.
“It’s going to be Graham,” Henry said. “I love it. Ready to make the team better.”
Henry figures to be the Red Devils’ quarterback, while also in the defensive backfield at safety. He was a kicker last year.
“I played a little bit of everything,” he said.
He finished the last school year at Southern Alamance, but figured that wasn’t going to be the right football fit. With his mother working in the school district, he had the option of returning to Graham.
“My friends told me I’m wasting my talent,” Henry said.
Henry is a 6-foot, 145-pound player. His role will be vital to the Red Devils.
“We need him to have a good season for us,” first-year coach Mykel Searcy said.
Graham is trying to bounce back from a one-win season.
Henry played at quarterback last year and switched to receiver late in the season.
“As the season is getting closer and closer, we’re still missing a few things,” Henry said. “We need more people to come out here.”
But one person the Red Devils aren’t missing is Henry. He said a final season at Graham makes sense.
“I really wanted to come back here,” he said. “I’ve been here (most of) my four years, and this is my home. These are my brothers over here.”
