Cummings is about to embark on a stretch of football games that qualify as enticing matchups across the final three weeks of the regular season when Northwood visits.
There are other games on Friday night’s schedule that will be critical for the pecking order involving Alamance County teams.
Williams is off this week. Here’s a look at the games, which begin at 7:00 p.m.:
Northwood at Cummings
Cummings (6-1, 5-0) shares first place in the Mid-Carolina Conference, while Northwood (5-3, 5-1) must win to stay in contention for the league title.
Cummings hasn’t allowed a point in its past two games.
Northwood has clinched back-to-back winning records in league play for the first time since a five-season stretch from 2013-17. The Chargers have won four games in a row since losing to Southeast Alamance.
Northwood and Cummings split results the past two years, with the Cavaliers winning 48-29 in 2023.
Seaforth at Southeast Alamance
This is the regular-season home finale for Southeast (7-0, 5-0), which has allowed only six points total in its previous three Mid-Carolina Conference home games.
Seaforth (2-4, 2-3) has lost two games in a row. Last year, Southeast defeated the Hawks for one of its five road victories.
North Moore at Graham
Graham (1-6, 1-4) is trying to win more than one home game in a season for the first time since 2021.
North Moore (3-4, 3-2), which is coached by Southern Alamance alum Andrew Carrouth, has won three games in a row. The Mustangs averaged 49 points per game in defeating Jordan-Matthews, Bartlett Yancey, and Seaforth. Carrouth is also a former Southern Alamance coach.
North Moore has defeated the Red Devils the past three years, all outcomes by at least 29 points.
Roxboro Person at Eastern Alamance
Roxboro Person (5-2, 2-1) is 1-2 in road games. The Rockets still have a chance to contend for the Central 3-A Conference title as their final three games come against Alamance County opponents.
Eastern (1-6, 1-2) has defeated the Rockets in each of the past seven seasons. The Eagles are fresh off their first victory of 2024 by defeating Cedar Ridge.
Cedar Ridge at Western Alamance
Western (5-2, 2-1) still has a shot at the Central 3-A Conference title despite a five-game winning streak ending last week at Williams.
Cedar Ridge (0-8, 0-4) has scored a total of 24 points this season. Western has never lost to the Red Wolves.
Southern Alamance at Orange
Southern Alamance (4-3, 2-1), coming off an open week, will try to stretch its winning streak to three games.
The Patriots defeated Orange (2-6, 1-3) twice last year, the second time in the first round of the Class 3-A state playoffs.
Southern defensive back/running back Kater Cornwell, who missed the Williams game last month and parts of others with an injury, was back mostly on defense two weeks ago vs. Roxboro Person.
