A long-time Burlington Shrine Club member was honored during the organization’s recent annual fish fry for his years of contributions to the Shriners.
Sheriff Terry Johnson appointed Robert “Bob” Norwood Hair as “Honorary Sheriff.” Hair becomes the ninth Alamance County resident appointed ‘Honorary Sheriff’ during John-son’s tenure which began in 2002.
The “appointment ceremony” was held during the annual Shriner’s Fish Fry at the Burlington Shrine Club with Hair’s daughters and fellow Shriners in attendance.
Johnson pinned an Alamance County Honorary Sheriff’s Badge on Hair’s shirt and presented him with a framed declaration of appointment and an ID card.
Honorary sheriffs are appointed by Johnson based on character, trustworthiness, and exemplary service and commitment to the citizens of Alamance County.
Honorary Sheriff Hair, a member of the Burlington Shrine Club for more than 40 years, has been instrumental in raising funds for the annual Shriner’s Fish Fry which supports the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children. In addition, during his 40 years of service, Hair has driven countless numbers of children and families from this area to and from the hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.
Johnson said, “Bob Hair has clearly demonstrated his love for these children and his community. We will always be grateful for his care and commitment to our great county and its citizens.”
