Rene Neff’s retirement from athletics director at Burlington Christian Academy didn’t last long.

She returned to the position in late November.

BCA had an opening when Michael Pinelli, who had moved into the AD role, departed for the athletics director job at Brandywine Heights Area School District in Topton, Pennsylvania. That took him back to his roots.

Neff said she’s back in an interim role.

Neff retired from the AD position in May. She maintained a role at the school as athletic coordinator to assist with scheduling and other tasks, so she never made a full break from the school’s sports scene.

Neff began working at the school in 1996. The school had its first freshman class in 2006, with Neff there to guide the process from the junior varsity level to eventual varsity teams and membership in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association.

BCA’s gym floor is named Rene Neff Court.
