Here’s a sampling of results from the Central City Classic, a collection of girls’ and boys’ basketball games played Friday night and throughout the day Saturday at Williams High School:
• Southeast Alamance’s boys rolled past Williams 79-56 in Friday night’s game despite 18 points from the Bulldogs’ Jaeden Smith.
The Stallions (3-1) were up 44-28 at halftime.
• The Williams girls won 63-17 against Graham to open Saturday’s slate of games. The Bulldogs (4-1) have won four games in a row.
• Chapel Hill’s girls’ team topped Northwood 44-32. Chapel Hill’s boys’ team won 64-44 against Northern Guilford.
• In a girls’ matchup, Bishop McGuinness held off Southeast Alamance 53-45, with North Carolina State signee Adelaide Jernigan pouring in 29 points. The Villains improved to 4-0.
It was the first loss of the season for the Stallions (3-1), who trailed by 11 points in the first quarter.
• On the boys’ side, Western Alamance suffered its first loss, falling 51-34 to undefeated Bishop McGuinness. The Warriors (4-1) fell into a 30-16 halftime hole.
• In the final girls’ game, Western Alamance notched a 50-37 victory against Northern Guilford in a clash between teams entering the day with 5-1 records.
• Burlington Christian Academy’s boys posted a 62-45 victory against Eastern Alamance in the event’s nightcap. The Royals (5-7) snapped a two-game skid. Eastern is 3-4.
