Mason Murphy scored 19 points and Eastern Alamance’s boys’ basketball team rolled past host Southern Alamance by 67-42 in Friday night’s Central 3-A Conference game.
Hunter Eichman added 14 points for the Eagles (9-6 overall, 4-1 Central 3-A Conference).
That outcome stretched the Eagles’ winning streak to three games. They weren’t scheduled for a conference game this week, so with a 4-1 league record they’re in contention.
Other teams from Alamance-Burlington School System schools had games scheduled for Tuesday night postponed because of weather-related concerns.
- Colby Elliot poured in 31 points as Williams pulled out a 68-67 victory Friday night at Cedar Ridge in the Central 3-A Conference, overcoming a seven-point halftime deficit.
Jamarious Toney made a tiebreaking free throw with four seconds left and Kyrian Fuller’s defensive play helped secure the result for the Bulldogs, who trailed by 17 points in the second quarter.
Elliot made one 3-point basket and was 8-for-11 on free throws. Toney had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Cavion Stokes provided 10 points and nine assists.
Williams dropped Monday’s game in the Tony Perrou Classic at Southern Alamance, falling 82-65 to Voyageur Academy. Elliot had 23 points, but the Bulldogs were outscored 45-27 in the second half.
Williams (7-8, 3-2) is back at Southern to take on the Patriots for Friday night’s conference game.
Tuesday’s postponed game between Williams and visiting Roxboro Person was moved to next Wednesday. Because of that, the scheduled January 30 non-conference game against visiting Providence Grove was moved to February 10.
- Southern Alamance won 67-66 in overtime against visiting North Carolina School of Science and Math in Monday night’s Tony Perrou Classic game. The Patriots are 4-12 (1-4 in conference play).
- Western Alamance dropped Friday night’s Central 3-A Conference game to visiting Roxboro Person by 74-53.
On Monday, the Warriors won 66-53 at Southeast Guilford in a non-league game. That made Western 8-6 (2-3 in league play).
- Southeast Alamance lost 32-31 to visiting Chatham Central in Friday night’s Mid-Carolina Conference game. Reid Albright scored 18 points for Chatham Central, while Drew Easter had 10 points for Southeast.
The loss for the Stallions (12-3, 7-2) puts them two games behind first-place Northwood.
Southeast has been dinged by injuries to the team’s three leading scorers Bubba Sims, Davian Edwards, and Donnie Fairley. Coach Bo Williamson said they might be out for a couple of more weeks.
Last Thursday, Southeast won 58-43 at Cummings with Brandon McAdoo scoring 18 points and James Kenan posting 11 points.
- Cummings (4-10, 3-5) lost 55-47 the next night to visiting Jordan-Matthews in the Mid-Carolina Conference, pushing the Cavaliers’ skid to six games.
- Graham fell 57-56 to Vance County in Monday’s Tony Perrou Classic at Southern Alamance. The Red Devils are 2-12 overall.
- Burlington Christian Academy claimed a 68-66 victory against Trinity Christian on Saturday at Garner. The Royals are 14-8.
- The Burlington School dropped a couple of recent games, falling 55-52 to High Point’s Wesleyan Christian Academy in Saturday’s neutral-court matchup despite 16 points and 13 rebounds from Kaden Hammond. That was followed by Monday’s 67-50 loss at Garner, putting TBS with a 13-9 record.
- Clover Garden defeated visiting River Mill 50-38 in last Thursday’s Central Tar Heel 1-A Conference game with Brayden DeAlto’s 19 points and eight rebounds and Ethan Saunders’ 15 points leading the way.
The Grizzlies (5-7, 2-3) then had a two-game winning streak snapped with Friday’s 46-33 home loss to Woods Charter. River Mill (2-16, 1-4) lost 73-25 to visiting Chatham Charter on Friday.
