Western Alamance’s girls’ basketball team stayed unbeaten in Central 3-A Conference play by winning 77-39 on Friday night at Roxboro Person.
After Friday night’s home game against Orange, the Warriors (13-2 overall, 5-0 Central 3-A Conference) have key games next week with a trip to Eastern Alamance on Tuesday night and a much-anticipated non-conference home game against Southeast Alamance on Wednesday night.
- Williams won for the first time in January with Friday night’s 57-31 road triumph at Cedar Ridge. Ry’leigh Surles tallied 18 points and Malia Scott and Jordyn Taylor each scored 11.
The Bulldogs followed that by defeating Vance County 56-50 in Monday’s Tony Perrou Classic at Southern Alamance. The Bulldogs are 9-6 overall, (3-2 in conference).
- Eastern Alamance won 64-24 on Friday night at Southern Alamance to stay in second place in the Central 3-A Conference. The Eagles are 8-8, 4-1.
- In the Mid-Carolina Conference, Southeast Alamance rolled with a 73-4 victory at Cummings and a 49-19 home triumph against Chatham Central.
Inysia McIver had 15 points in the Cummings game, while Rreanna Johnson and Shaniya Paylor recorded 14 and 12 points, respectively, in the Chatham Central game. The Stallions are 13-2, 8-1.
- Cummings (3-7, 3-5) responded by topping visiting Jordan-Matthews 34-29 on Friday night.
- The Burlington School (5-7) suffered a 53-49 overtime loss to Louisburg on Monday despite Alaiyah Mitchell’s 19 points in a neutral-court game.
- River Mill won 47-39 at Clover Garden, which received 28 points and 10 rebounds from Hanna Tickle in last Thursday’s Central Tar Heel 1-A Conference game. River Mill outscored the Grizzlies 25-11 in the fourth quarter.
The Jaguars had their first winning streak of the season until losing 46-5 to Chatham Charter on Friday. River Mill is 3-15, 2-3.
Clover Garden (9-4, 3-2) responded with a 50-23 home victory against Woods Charter as Tickle rang up 22 points and Brandi Markham had 10 points.
