Police in Burlington have been trying to piece together the details of a murder-suicide that took place in eastern Guilford County earlier this week.

According to the city’s police department, this fatal shooting was the grisly conclusion to a violent domestic drama that unfolded along the 1200 block of Thomaswood Drive on Tuesday afternoon.

Occurring at the western edge of Burlington’s municipal limits, this incident ultimately drew patrol units from both Guilford County’s sheriff’s office as well as members of Burlington’s municipal police force, which received a call about the shooting at 2:31 p.m. These officers arrived on the scene to discover the bodies of 37-year-old Dustin Stephenson and 28-year-old Whitney Huston – both of whom apparently perished from freshly-inflicted gunshot injuries.

According to Burlington’s police department, the officers went on to deduce that Stephenson had fatally shot Huston, with whom he was in a “domestic relationship,” before turning the gun on himself. The department added that no one else was injured in the incident.
