Notice of Unclaimed Property
The Burlington Police Department Evidence Control Unit is in possession of property with known and unknown owners who have not responded to USPS notices. These items came into the possession of this agency and to date, no claim has been filed for ownership. Notification of Discharge of Untreated Wastewater
The Town of Haw River had a discharge of untreated wastewater on Friday April 25, 2025 from a force main located at the intersection of Lang Street and Cemetery Street. A small section of the top of the sewer pipe broke resulting in the discharge. The force main was subsequently removed from service and a pump and haul operation commenced to stop the discharge and evaluate the damage. The force main was repaired and placed back in service that afternoon.
The discharge occurred for 4 hours and totaled approximately 25,000 gallons.
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources was notified on Friday April 25, 2025 and is reviewing the matter. For more information contact the Town of Haw River at (336) 578-0784.
General Statute 143-215.1C requires that the owner or operator of any wastewater collection or treatment works to issue a press release when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.
