Sean Quinn has finished his job as athletics director at Western Alamance.
The Warriors won state championships in boys’ soccer, girls’ basketball, and girls’ soccer.

“I’m leaving education altogether,” Quinn said. “I knew I wasn’t going to do this for another 10 years. I wanted time for a second career.”
Quinn’s departure comes following an historic school year in terms of athletics. The Warriors won state championships in boys’ soccer, girls’ basketball, and girls’ soccer.
“You can’t walk away any better year than that,” Quinn said.
Quinn has had four-year stints as athletics director at two schools in the county – Southern Alamance and Western Alamance.
“It’s a burnout job for me,” he said.
He spent 13 total years at Western, where he was a social studies teacher, after nine years at Southern. He also spent some time at Southern as girls’ basketball coach.
He coached girls’ basketball across two different stints at Western. He stepped away from coaching following the 2023-24 season.
“Education has certainly changed,” he said. “Western has been really good to me.”
Quinn has taken a job with Teva Pharmaceuticals.
“I got a lot of good years in me,” he said.
He’ll remain in the area. He said he’ll continue to attend Western sports events, though he won’t need to be around to help set up or clean up.
“I’ll miss high school athletics and the whole flavor of it,” he said.
