Alma “Jo” Bennett of Mebane, went home to be with Jesus Friday September 19th 2025 at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Jo was born in Taylorsville August 27th, 1933. She was an active member of the community where she met the love of her life. She and her husband of 60 years, Thomas Alfred Bennett Jr, moved to Mebane NC in the late 60’s and started their family.
Jo was a successful Medical Secretary at Kernodle clinic of Burlington for 16 years. She decided to make a career change and started her own cleaning business (Bennett Commercial Cleaning Service) which she owned and operated for 30 years. Jo was known as the “OG” soccer mom.
She loved to sing and especially in the church choir. On any given day you would find Jo outside on “her” John Deere lawn mower mowing the grass as happy as can be. She always had a smile on her face and everyone was family. Jo never met a stranger. She was a happy soul that always worked hard and loved Jesus and her family.
Jo is survived by her husband, Thomas Alfred Bennett Jr., son Scott Bennett and fiancé Terri Boggs, and her daughter Cynthia Bennett-Cox and husband Eric Cox.
