Western Alamance remained undefeated in boys’ soccer, including a victory in a rematch from last year’s postseason.
The Warriors defeated host Southern Durham 2-0 last Friday on goals by Franky Maya and Grant Bacchus. Goalie Eamon Hipps made seven saves.
That was a rematch of last year’s Class 3-A East Regional final, which Western won on the way to the state championship.
Bacchus scored three goals when Western defeated host Southeast Alamance 4-1 on Monday night in a Mid-Carolina Conference game. Abraham Cano had the other Western goal.
It marked only the third game in which the Warriors had surrendered a goal this season while compiling a 12-0 record.
- Southeast’s Ethan Martinez notched two goals in last week’s 5-0 home victory vs. Cummings.
- Cummings topped host Eastern Alamance 4-3 on Monday despite Logan Grimshaw’s three goals for the Eagles.
- Aurelio Figueroa scored three goals and Lucas Stroud and Dawson Tanner each scored two goals to go with one goal from Sebastian Vargas Aleem as Williams won its third consecutive game by defeating visiting Southern Alamance 8-0 on Monday.
Stroud, Vargas Aleem, Justin Hernandez, and Noah Pachano all scored for Williams in last week’s 4-3 triumph against visiting Graham.
- Graham notched home victories against Roxboro Person by 7-2 on Monday and against Clover Garden by 3-1 on Tuesday.
That marked only the second loss for Clover Garden, both against Graham. The Grizzlies won 7-2 against visiting Southern Wake last Friday with Charlie Castaneda racking up five goals and Garrison Womble and Andrew Elsdon each scoring once.
- The Burlington School’s Sebastian Urgiles had three goals and two assists in a 6-5 setback to visiting Triad Math and Science Academy last week.
- Alamance Christian School is 10-1 with a six-game winning streak after defeating visiting Vandalia Christian 9-0 on Tuesday.
Volleyball
Clover Garden defeated host River Mill 25-19, 27-25, 20-25, 25-18 in Central Tar Heel 1-A Conference play Tuesday.
Clover Garden is in second place and River Mill is in third place.
- After last week’s three-set loss at Roxboro Person, Eastern Alamance swept visiting Cummings on Monday and host Southern Alamance on Tuesday in Mid-Carolina Conference matches.
Hannah Batista had 20 service points vs. Southern.
- Western Alamance defeated visiting Graham in three sets last week before Tuesday night’s three-set loss at Roxboro Person. Reese Walker had 19 kills and Riley Walker had 16 service points vs. Graham.
- Southeast Alamance avenged a loss to Southern Alamance by topping the visiting Patriots in four sets last week with Emily Troy notching 12 kills and Brooke Hardister contributing 11 kills to go with Victoria Vazquez’s 30 assists.
- Alamance Christian School improved to 9-1 when it won in four sets Monday at Faith Christian in Ramseur.
